Mr. Mark Chasan
CEO
Transformative Capital, Inc
Mr. Chasan is a successful entrepreneur, strategic advisor,
Internet veteran, lawyer and digital media pioneer. Prior to
becoming Chairman and CEO of Transformative, Mr. Chasan held
positions as Managing Director of Greenbridge Capital Group,
Inc., and Managing Partner at Publex Ventures, both of which
were private-to-public hybrid equities firms.
Prior to Publex, Mr. Chasan was an Executive Consultant of IBM
Global Services, Digital Media and Entertainment Group, where
Mr. Chasan was a leader in IBM's development of marketplace
strategies and solutions in the media and entertainment sectors
and created several digital media solutions for IBM.
In 1995, Mr. Chasan founded Emusic, and as Chairman and CEO of
Emusic built the premiere online digital music distribution and
retailing company and a leading online music and entertainment
superstore. In February 1999, Emusic was acquired by Goodnoise/Emusic.com,
Inc. (NASDAQ: EMUS). Mr. Chasan left the company in July, 1999
and fully liquidated his position between September, 1999 and
May, 2000. In June 2001, Vivendi/Universal acquired Emusic.
Also, in 1995, Mr. Chasan formed Webcentral, one of the first
web development, hosting and co-location facilities in the US
and hosted such customers as CalTrans, ReMax and
AudioNet/Broadcast.com.
From 1985 to 1998, Mr. Chasan was the Managing Partner of Chasan
& Associates, a Los Angeles law firm practicing in the areas of
securities, corporate, real estate, entertainment and civil
litigation. Mr. Chasan is extremely knowledgeable in the areas
of mergers and acquisitions, traditional and digital rights
licensing, acquisition, management, distribution and sales. Mr.
Chasan is also skilled in the development and implementation of
a broad spectrum of marketing, PR and business development
strategies for building sales, distribution channels and brand
recognition.
Mr. Scott Chou

Mr. Scott Chou is a General Partner at Gabriel Venture Partners.
He is known within the venture industry for his focus on
disruptive technologies and for authoring Maxims, Morals, and
Metaphors – A Philosophical Guide to Venture Capital. Scott’s
passion for early stage technology ventures extends back to high
school when he joined his first startup as a software engineer.
He has since worked for five more technology ventures including
Poqet Computer and ICE in addition to world-renowned research
and development organizations such as Bellcore and IBM. His
broad expertise in technology spans the industry from
manufacturing to software development to chip design. Scott
completed the prestigious Kauffman Fellows Program with Onset
Ventures and is currently the chairman of the alumni network. He
later joined Gabriel Venture Partners where he pursues research
labs for fundamental innovations. Scott currently serves on the
boards of Boston Power, iForem, NextG Networks, Sequoia
Communications, SkyCross, and YLX. His educational background
includes a bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering with
honors from Caltech as well as master’s degrees from Harvard
University and Stanford University.
Dr. Dan Colbert
Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Colbert is Chief Technology Officer and a Principal of NGEN.
Prior to joining NGEN, Dr. Colbert co-founded Carbon
Nanotechnologies, Inc. in 2000, the leading producer of
single-wall carbon nanotubes, a remarkable material prominent in
the burgeoning field of nanotechnology. CNI was founded as a
combined effort with Nobel Laureate Professor Rick Smalley to
commercialize technology developed together at Rice University
over the preceding years. Dr. Colbert was also a member of the
chemistry faculty at Rice University where he earned an
international reputation as leader in the nanotechnology field
for his pioneering work. He's co-author of more than 50 research
papers and inventor on more 50 patents.
At CNI, Dr. Colbert was Vice President for Major Development
Strategies where he negotiated funding and joint development
agreements and was responsible for all Asian business
development.
Dr. Colbert earned his B.A. in Chemistry from Cornell University
and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. His postdoctoral work focused on quantum
reactive scattering theory at the University of
California-Berkeley.
Mr. Chuck McDermott

Mr. McDermott began working in the energy and environmental area
in 1984, when he joined Citizens Energy Corporation as Manager
of Project Development, helping to pioneer the creation of the
nation's first bulk electric power trading company. He later
served as Campaign Director and then as Chief of Staff for a
U.S. Congressman from 1986-1990, directing all political,
constituent, and legislative matters. In 1990, Mr. McDermott
joined the government relations staff of Waste Management, Inc.,
the world’s largest environmental services company, and was made
Vice President and officer of the corporation in 1993
responsible for the company’s federal advocacy before the White
House, U.S. Congress, and other federal agencies. He relocated
to Boston in 1998 and helped form RockPort’s merchant bank in
that year and the venture fund in 2001.
He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Advanced
Electron Beams, Renaissance Lighting, Soliant Energy (Formerly
Practical Instruments) and Tioga Energy. He is also a Member of
the Board of Directors and President of the CEO Coalition to
Advance Sustainable Technologies, a member of the Board of
Advisors to the Cleantech Venture Network, Chairman of the
Gridwise Alliance and Board Member of the Flax Trust, a business
incubator in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Mr. McDermott studied at Yale University before becoming a
producer, performer, writer and music company executive,
recording three albums, and founding Homecoming Records with
John Stewart in 1982.
Mr. Bill Reichert
Managing Director
Garage Technology Ventures
Bill Reichert has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur
and an operating executive. Since joining Garage in 1998, Bill
has focused on early-stage information technology and materials
science companies. He sits on the Boards of CaseStack, WhiteHat,
ClearFuels, and cFares. Prior to Garage, Bill was a co-founder
or senior executive in several venture-backed technology
startups, including Trademark Software, The Learning Company and
Academic Systems. Earlier in his career, he worked at McKinsey &
Company, Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., and the World Bank. Bill
earned a B.A. at Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Stanford
University.
Mr. David Ward

David heads up the US operations for MTI in Waltham, MA and also
leads the Materials Science investment practice for MTI.
After gaining an MA in Materials Science from the University of
Oxford, David’s joined Cookson Group PLC. His first venture
capital experience was as EVP Sales in a LBO backed by
Morgan Grenfell Development Capital. He then became CEO of a
tech start-up in the global metals industry as part of an
further LBO funded by Granville Baird Private Equity in the UK.
In the past David has given press commentary on venture capital
investing in Nanotechnology and has chaired a Nanotech panel
session for the European Venture Capital Association. His
current portfolio of investments includes Datalase, Eleksen
(AIM) and Powerlase.
